Thurs 7th June - BioSouth Newsletter No 4 |
| Article |
With just a few days to go until BioSouth 2012 next Tuesday, the organisers are pleased to see the number of delegates has gone over the 50 mark and that the no of 1-to-1 meeting requests has passed 120. Don't forget that the event starts at 9.30am with registration and coffee. The 'Welcome' will be given at 10am prompt followed by an interesting number of presentations by some key national speakers. I am grateful to all the speakers who will be travelling some distance to be with us and will be a key part of the first BioSouth event. But hopefully not the last ! You can see details of the presentations on the event website via the Event Programme page. You can click through on each speakers profile and then request a 1-to-1 meeting with them so that you can ask them your own specific questions.
I am also pleased to have 2 companies giving Company Showcase Presentations in the afternoon. They are Occams Resources who are doing a Showcase on Cloud Computing in the Bio sector and the HealthTech & Medicines KTN who are discussing R+D Funding Opportunities . Each will give a 25 minute presentation about their business and area of activity. Again please go to the Event Programme page and click through to book your seat. I need you to do this before the meeting cut of time on Friday night so that I can mark your profile as being 'unavailable for 'meetings' during that presentation slot.
There are also a number of organisations and companies who are making an 'exhibition' of themselves at BioSouth 2112.
The 1-to-1 partnering meetings will start after lunch at 1.30pm. We have over 110 meeting requests already registered via the event website. PLEASE NOTE that the cut off for making you last meeting request is at 6pm on Friday 8th June. But remember that some delegates meeting agenda's are already filling up so don't delay - pick some 1-to-1 meetings today ! The most recent delegate organisations to register for BioSouth 2012 are as follows... To start requesting your meetings please click the light blue 'Registered Participants click here' button on the event website www.biosouth.co.uk Enter your e-mail and the password you used when you registered and submitted your profile. This will take you to a page with 6 options. Then click on 'Option 3' (Select your meetings) which will take you to a page called 'List of Participants'. This is where you will be able to search the database of collaboration profiles for all the other delegate organisations that have registered for the 1:1 meetings. To register your request to have a meeting with a particular delegate, simply tick the box marked 'I would like to meet this company' which you will find at the top and bottom of each delegates 'profile' page, and we will do the rest. Once you are logged in you can also view a list of your meeting requests (via Option 5). This list will show both those delegates you have selected to meet and also a list of those other delegates who have requested to meet with you. You can use the meeting 'decline' function to turn down any requests that you do not consider appropriate. However, I would ask you to keep an open mind as you never know what such contacts can produce. Please Note - You do not need to 'accept' your meeting requests, only decline those requests from people you do not want to meet.
Hotel bookings. The Holiday Inn has done us a great deal of £87 B+B. Which is considerably less than their usual rate of £130 + Vat. There are a number of delegates coming to the hotel the night before so there should be ample time for some informal extra networking. I'll be in the bar from about 8.00pm so see you there.
Travel - Don't forget that the Holiday Inn hotel is located just off the A1 a couple of miles south of Jn 23 of the M25. The hotel has free car parking. The Holiday Inn at Elstree is also located close to Borhamwood Railway station.
Payment. Many thanks to everyone who has already paid. Anne's really got the hang of using the credit card machine. To those who have not yet paid please do so asap. Just ring Anne on 0191 415 7340 and she can take payment over the phone. Any problems please give Anne or myself a call. If you have any questions about the event please get in touch either by phone or send me an e-mail.
! look forward to meeting you next week.
Kind regards Phil
